Saturday  8 November 2014, Jaipur. Children of St. Xavier’s School dazzled the audience with their performances in the 22nd Madhukar Malvea Music and Dance Competition.  Amidst the decorous settings in the  wee hours,  the various Houses of St. Xavier’s school came up with their mesmerizing performances in various categories of music and dance.  In the classical dance category the Blues house brought to life the Kali Shakti Aahvahan whereas the Reds portrayed the melancholy of Dev’s Paro. Kumar Papriwal enthused the audience with his solo number ‘Madhuban Me Radhika Naach Re’  and Farkhanda Rehman sang the soulful ‘ Satyam Shivam Sundaram’.  Energy packed dance performances encompassing even the most acrobatic styles were displayed with ease by the children on fusion songs.

Fr. Varkey Perekatt SJ, the honourable Provincial and the Chief Guest for the evening congratulated the children and their mentors on their extraordinary effort. He reflected upon the relevance of Music and dance in our lives. ‘Music and Dance are akin to meditation as they fill our souls with peace and serenity thereby leaving no room for the undesirable vices to take on us’, reiterated   Fr Perekatt in his benign message.

Fr. John Ravi SJ, the Principal exhorted the coming up generation to profess peace, harmony and love which is also the undeniable need of the day and hour, seeing the world reeling with hostility. ‘Music and Dance enriches ones personality, broadens the outlook and gives a regard for the prevailing diversity. It is beyond the paradigms of language, caste, creed etc.’ said Fr. Ravi in his solicited message to the audience and the budding performers.
