PM Modi also discussed his first encounter with Pranab Mukherjee, who was president at the time, in 2014

In a meeting with lawmakers from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) from Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that Sharad Pawar was prevented from becoming Prime Minister by the dynastic politics of the Congress.

This was the most recent of PM Modi’s conversations with NDA MPs before the general election next year: “The BJP is not arrogant like the Congress, so it will stay in power,” he stated.

PM Modi also discussed his first encounter as Prime Minister with former President Pranab Mukherjee, a fellow Congress veteran, in 2014.

He informed me that the BJP announced you as their candidate for prime minister and that you won an absolute majority for the party. This was a first-time occurrence. The public choose you because, up until this point, declaring a candidacy for prime minister had never produced a victory by a wide margin in elections.

In 1999, Sharad Pawar, at 82, left the Congress after rebelling against Sonia Gandhi’s nationality. After a few days, he established the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which recently disbanded following a coup led by his nephew Ajit Pawar, who has allied himself with the BJP.

As the NCP fights off rumors that Sharad Pawar is warming up to the BJP, the PM made the remarks. According to reports, the senior himself informed his party members on Monday that he would not collaborate with the BJP.

Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, which had a similar split last year and lost power after dissident Eknath Shinde stepped out and formed an alliance with the BJP, was also blasted by PM Modi during the meeting yesterday.

“They broke the partnership with the Shiv Sena, not us. Shiv Sena has been a member of the coalition government since 2014, yet their daily “Saamana” has consistently opposed our administration. Controversies were sparked and unfounded criticism was published.

We put up with it. We treated it lightly,” remarked PM Modi.

On the one hand, you criticize while on the other, you wish to remain in power together. How can both events occur simultaneously? When Eknath Shinde joined us, he was appointed Chief Minister. He continued, saying that all parties who wish to join the NDA “are welcome.” We will stick together, and there will be respect for everyone.
