Self-Awareness: Importance of Self-Awareness
Sandip Panndit, Founder of Soul in Harmony states, ‘Self-Awareness, also known as mindfulness is the ability to check out your own feelings, emotions, thoughts, weaknesses, strengths, and ‘you’ as a whole.’ Being mindful is having a better understanding of yourself including monitoring your sentiments and character. Rehearsing self-awareness is figuring out the reason behind why you feel what you feel and why you act with a certain goal in mind.
Its Importance
It’s difficult to better yourself or work on any part of your existence without self-awareness. Without a beginning stage, how might you gauge how far you’ve come or how far you actually need to go?
Self-awareness is the initial step to defining objectives. Assuming you’re adequately self-aware to know your strengths and shortcomings, you’ll know which objectives you want to set and the methodologies that will assist you with accomplishing them.
Causes of Mental Stress
Asha Dalal, Founder of Asha Reiki Healing Center says ‘One of the active reasons for mental stress these days is multi-tasking among people.’ Everybody wants to engage themselves in more than one activity at a time. For some time, it was viewed as positive to have the option to perform multiple tasks. The thought was that individuals could take on our day in and day out society and be more useful by completing two things all at once. But now it is proved to be negative for our mental health. Researches show that performing a single task at a time is more productive than focusing on several streams. It can cause negative emotions like stress and anxiety and can make a person more irritable and confused.
So, it is advisable to put your focus and energy into one thing at a time and prioritize your mental peace over any materialistic thing.
Role of Perception and Beliefs in Mental Health
Samarth Vyas, Reiki Grand Master says ‘Perception and Belief systems are considered as an important part of mental health because both are strongly connected with the mind and contribute a major role in the overall process of mental health.’
In developing perspective or any kind of belief system in a child, environmental signals play an essential role. Every infant or toddler needs default environmental signals to survive depending upon the life around him. But when he hits puberty, his mind starts to develop self-perspective by observing people around him. And here comes in, self-awareness and mindfulness where he perceives and understands life on his own. So, it’s important to update your perceptions and belief system based on the current situation you are dealing with.
Sunil Narnaulia, Chief Editor, Credent Tv states, ‘To live a meaningful life, one needs to take off the spectacles of perception that were established by time, society or your experiences.’
So, it is vital to invest the energy in self-awareness and mindfulness isn’t learned in a book, however, accomplished through self-reflection by utilizing what you have found out with regards to yourself to illuminate choices, practices, and collaborations with others.
