The Congress party vowed to raise the ceiling of reservation from 50% to 75% in order to accommodate the hopes and aspirations of SC/ST/OBC/minority and other communities such as Lingayats and Vokkaligas, a day after the BJP promised the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in its manifesto. The party has pledged to eradicate corruption in public works and enact a whistleblower protection act in its manifesto.

Yesterday, the BJP released its platform. While the party pledged to implement UCC and NRC, Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar, who oversaw the BJP’s campaign manifesto, stated that the ruling party will instead form an expert committee to study it after regaining power rather than implementing UCC and NRC right away.
