For the first time, the BJP, which has always supported Nitish Kumar in Bihar, is taking the initiative and will drive the NDA’s campaign in the state. Following the resolution of the deadlock with Chirag Paswan’s section of the Lok Janshakti Party, the party has decided to fight 17 of the 40 seats in the state.
Upendra Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi will each run for one seat, while Mr. Kumar’s Janata Dal United will field candidates for sixteen seats. Chirag Paswan’s LJP will run for five seats.

Following an extended standoff and allegations that the Opposition bloc INDIA had been sending feelers, Chirag Paswan struck an agreement with the BJP.

According to insiders, the Opposition had promised the LJP eight seats, including the six it had won in 2019 and two additional seats in neighboring Uttar Pradesh as a bonus. The BJP had reportedly only offered him six seats, which would have been divided with his uncle Pashupati Paras.

After declaring a while ago that “Every Party, Every Coalition Wants Me To Be On Its Side,” Chirag Paswan was content to accept five seats today. Nevertheless, following the discussion, he made it plain that his uncle Pashupati Paras would not be receiving any seats from his quota.

However, closing the deal is a major benefit for the BJP, which has become wealthy overnight with Nitish Kumar’s comeback after being forced into isolation due to his defection to the Grand Alliance.

However, the party has stated unequivocally that it was the best in the partnership, with the one additional seat designating it as the leader.

Even in 2019, the JDU and the BJP chose a 50:50 formula and ran for an equal number of seats following a quiet and acrimonious confrontation. The Lok Janashakti Party, which was then led by Chirag Paswan’s father Ram Vilas Paswan, received six seats, while the BJP and Mr. Kumar’s Janata Dal United received seventeen seats apiece.
Out of the 40 seats, the coalition had taken 39 of them; the opposition had only one.
