Day 1 of the fifth Ashes Test saw Brook score a half-century for England while Australia’s score was 61/1. England’s first innings was reduced to 283 runs

The first day’s play saw England’s first innings reduced to 283 runs by lunch. A half-century was scored by Harry Brook. At the end of the first innings, Australia is 61 for 1. Marnus Labuschagne is on 2 and Usman Khawaja is on 26, and they will lead the innings on day two.

Ben Duckett scored 41 runs, Jack Crawley 22, and Joe Root 5 runs for England before lunch on the first day, limiting their first innings. In addition to scoring 34 runs, Moeen Ali and Harry Brook combined for 111 runs. Ben Stokes, the captain, could only score three runs. Harry Brook played an inning of 85 runs while remaining steadfast at the other end. Only 4 runs could be scored by Johnny Bairstow. Chris Woakes, an all-around bowler, scored 36 runs. Mark Wood scored 28 runs there and then. A 49-run partnership between Wood and Woakes was recorded. After scoring 7 runs, Stuart Broad was struck out. After scoring zero runs, James Anderson kept his perfect record.

Australia’s first innings have begun. After scoring 24 runs, Australian opener David Warner went back to the pavilion. Marnus Labuschagne is unbeaten on 2, and Usman Khawaja is unbeaten on 26, and they will lead the innings on day two.

Crawley and Duckett, the first batsman, shared a 62-run partnership for the first wicket. Following this, England scored 11 runs while losing three wickets. Duckett was handled by wicketkeeper Alex Carey before being caught by Mitchell Marsh. After making 22 runs in 37 balls with the help of three fours, Crawley was also dismissed. Hazlewood clean bowls Joe Root.
