On April 20 and 21, the Ministry of Culture will host a two-day summit in collaboration with the World Buddhist Summit. The summit’s theme is “Responses to Contemporary Challenges: Philosophy to Praxis,” according to the announcement.

 New Delhi: According to his office, PM Modi will speak at the opening ceremony of the Global Buddhist Summit on Thursday in Delhi.

On April 20 and 21, World Buddhist Summit and the Ministry of Culture will jointly host the two-day summit. “Responses to Contemporary Challenges: Philosophy to Praxis” is the summit’s theme, according to the announcement.

The World Buddhist Summit aims to bring together the leaders and scholars of the “Buddhist Dhamma” worldwide to discuss issues of Buddhist and universal concern and to develop policy recommendations to jointly address them. The summit’s discussion will examine how the fundamental principles of the Buddha Dhamma can offer motivation and direction in modern contexts, it was added.

The World Buddhist Summit will feature eminent scholars, Sangha leaders, and Dharma practitioners from around the world who will discuss pressing global issues and seek answers in the Buddha Dhamma, which is based on universal values, according to the PM’s Office.

The four topics that will be covered during the discussions are: “Buddha Dhamma and Peace; Buddha Dhamma: Environmental Crisis, Health and Sustainability; Preservation of Nalanda Buddhist Tradition; Buddha Dhamma Pilgrimage, Living Heritage and Buddha Relics: a resilient foundation to India’s centuries-old cultural ties to nations in South, South-East, and East Asia,” it was added.

Keynote Speaker at the Opening Session of the Global Buddhist Summit

According to the report, the event will include two keynote speakers: His Holiness Thich Tri Quang, the Deputy Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and Professor Robert Thurman, a well-known expert on Tibetan Buddhism from the United States. According to the report, Professor Thurman’s efforts to revive India’s ancient Buddhist heritage earned him the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2020.
