Credent TV | Partha Chatterjee was kicked out of Mamata Banerjee‘s cabinet on Thursday due to his role in the state’s major School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scandal.

The state cabinet’s portfolios for trade and industry, legislative affairs, information technology and electronics, and public enterprises and industrial rehabilitation were handled by Chatterjee, the TMC secretary general.

Industry and Partha Chatterjee’s other ministries will be handled temporarily by Mamata Banerjee.

“Partha Chatterjee is no longer a minister, by my order. My party follows rigorous rules. “There are several preparations made, but I don’t want to get into them,” said Mamata.

The clamour calling for his dismissal became louder after around Rs 50 crore in cash was found in houses connected to Chatterjee, who has been detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The Trinamool Congress has also expelled the detained minister from the organization, reiterating that corruption would not be tolerated. The TMC said that if he is found innocent, he may re-join the party.

“The positions of general secretary, national vice president, and three additional positions have all been eliminated from the TMC, along with Partha Chatterjee. He is now on leave while the inquiry is ongoing. If his innocence is established, he may return, “Abhishek Banerjee, the head of the TMC, informed the media.

“Corruption will not be tolerated at all. The investigating agency must finish the investigation in the allotted time. Nothing occurred in Sarada’s situation either; it is merely lingering. “A deadline-bound probe should be conducted, “Abhishek Banerjee, the TMC’s leader, said.

Large sums of money and gold found

The ED found approximately Rs 50 crore in cash and gold, estimated to be in kilos, from residences connected to Chatterjee’s close friend Arpita Mukherjee the day before the decision to remove him.

Along with this, the authorities also found property and foreign exchange paperwork.

Mamata Banerjee, the leader of Trinamool and the chief minister, wanted a quick, time-limited trial to find the guilty and throw them “behind bars for life.” She also attempted to distance the party and administration from the scandal, claiming neither had anything to do with it. The CM said that regardless of the court’s decision, the party and the government will accept it.

Chatterjee admitted previously that he attempted to phone her but received no response.

On the advice of the West Bengal School Service Commission, the CBI is looking into suspected anomalies in the hiring of Group-C and D workers as well as instructors at government-sponsored and aided schools (SSC). The ED is tracing the scam’s financial path.

Leaders of the TMC have expressed worry over how the public would perceive the seizure of the gold and cash from Chatterjee and his assistant Arpita Mukherjee’s houses.

In a previous statement, TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh urged Chatterjee’s immediate dismissal from all positions in the ministry for bringing “disgrace” to the party headed by Mamata Banerjee and “shame to all of us.”

At the time of the alleged violations, Chatterjee served as the education minister.

He is no longer referred to as the party’s secretary-general or a minister by TMC mouthpiece “Jago Bangla.” He is still listed as the editor in the printer’s line, however.
